K-Pop Day...

Here is part of tomorrow's lesson.

Nothing amazing....just a couple of ppts for K-Pop day...but they're both over the 25mb limit for hotmail and gmail...so I figured I'd put them on here and grab them before class.

Oh...the girl's generation one (which is from waygook.org entirely...I didn't make any of it) has a teacher's photo in the last slide...so you might want to change that.

The other one...'name that tune' is based on a game from waygook...but I added eight songs and changed the more obscure ones that the original had.

Maybe you'll get something out of them...maybe you won't!

Summer Camp 2011 - Ninja Bomb Game Template!

Hello there Burnfans!

How are you today?  Happy?  Well?  That's great...or terrible...depending on what you said!

Anyway...I'll cut to the chase...this is a Ninja Bomb game template that I've made for Summer Camp.

You might like it...you might not.

The scoreboard is a little bit out of place...but until I can figure out Flash...I'm stuck with using Daejon's  (wonderful...but not colour appropriate) scoreboards.

Anyway...here it is.  As per usual, I will probably chuck it onto waygook.org later.

Simple game...

Hello there...this is a simple 'Guess The Country Game".  I'm playing it in my Special Class today...but it wouldn't fit using Hotmail (although it is well under the Hotmail limit)...so I've added it to the blog....which isn't a bad idea...I mean...it's a great little game, and my students have always enjoyed it...and I'm sure yours will too.

Enjoy!

Grade 6 Lesson 6 - Can I have some water?

Hello there!

This is the final version of my Angry Birds bomb game.  I'm releasing it to the wider world (all be it via the narrow confines of the blog (which means that the total readership should be less than four people). This is a template...except that it contains slides for the "Can I have some water?" lesson from the books.

The powerpoint is all mine except for the scoreboard which was created by Daejon...I took it from his Sonic Game.

There are 24 questions.

I played it today with my students...and they absoluetly loved it...very enthusiastic response.

So...I am sharing it with you, dear Burnfans...and will share it with the wider world later.

If you can't work something out with it...or if you need something...shoot me an email - burndoggy@hotmail.com. I'm sure that I will help...or tell you to piss off...it's difficult to know which way it will go.

I shall release a proper template...minus the lesson specific stuff...at a much later date.  For now....this is what we've got!!!

Oh....and if anyone can convert it into ppt...and keep all of the sounds...shoot me a copy please.  burndoggy@hotmail.com.

I appreciate it!

Thursday...

Hello Burnfans!

It's Thursday...and not teacher's class today because of the field trips.  Still seething a little about not being allowed to go on the 6th Grade Camp this year.  I've always enjoyed the camp, and have seen it as an extremely valuable part of my approach to 6th Grade.  My teaching method relies on building good relationships with the students.  With 6th Grade, if they don't feel like they know you, they won't trust you, and won't respect you.  That's why 6th Grade are the most difficult class for first year Elementary School teachers.  Going on camp allows me to spend a few days (mostly on the bus) joking around with the kids and getting to know them better....but more importantly...the shared experience makes them see me as more of a person and less of a curiosity.  So....I'm a little annoyed. But...being a little annoyed doesn't mean that I'm about to throw my toys out of the fucking pram.  I mean...it's just the way the cookie fucking crumbles isn't it?  The upside is that I have the flu, so sitting on the bus and wandering about for three days probably wouldn't have been the best idea anyway!!

So...I've got the flu.  Which is shit.  But I only have one class today, and no classes tomorrow...so it's no drama.  I just have to sit at my desk for a couple of days...resting.

The new blog is gonna have to wait until tonight I'm afraid...the computer here has shat itself...and I can't update it.  I'm doing this through Posterous.  Sorry.  I am in the mood to tee off on a lovely fucking rant today and all...but...it's gonna have to wait.

So...my flu soaked brain has given all you can get for one morning...I'm sure I will be back.

Bye!

Grade 5 Lesson 3 - "It's Under The Table"

Hello There!

Look at this!  It's another one of our continuing series of..."Files from Mediafire!"  These are all from the 5th Grade lesson "It's Under The Table".  Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of files, and a couple of them seem to be more suitable for "Where is Gyongbukgong?" rather than this lesson...still...the Jeopardy game and "Where is the red ball?" ppts make this set worth the effort.

Hope it helps someone...somewhere!

Burndog.

Grade 6 Lesson 3 - Do You Like Spring?

Good Day Burnfans!

How are you?  Doing well?  Having a nice Friday?  Me too.  Today, I continue our series called "Saved from Mediafire and available to the public!"

This time it's Grade 6 Lesson 3.  The files are pretty self explanatory...and some are probably good...and some are probably shitbags!  Unlike last time...none of these are ones that I've used in the past...they are all straight from Mediafire.

Hope they help someone!

Burndog.

Friday, Friday, Friday...

The first paragraph below is for Australian Football fans...if you don't like it or care...then move go to the next paragraph.  The second of the paragraphs below is about train and traffic issues in Melbourne...so...ummm...again...you might not give a fuck...so go to the next paragraph.

A little bit up and down.  A little bit under the weather...so gonna take it easy.  Footy's back.  Listening to horrible Australian radio stations that don't get a run for six months but then pop up on the old listening agenda when the footy season starts again.  SEN is not a radio network for people who have a huge interest in being entertained...and it's not in any way informative enough to be utilised from day-to-day.  I ken that it's footy time when I use the old internet connection to try and listen to a radio station that has ads for 'Tradies Insurance', 'Capt'n Snooze', Ferguson Plaire Bakery and Woolworths/Safeway Bottle Shops.  Yeah...insurance for plumbers, beds, pies and booze...which to be enitrely fair...are all shit that I spent my poppy about when I lived back home (aside from your tradies insurance!). I love listening to 'blokey' Aussie radio...you hear shit like, "Dead set, is there a better comp goin' around?" and then the blokes debate the various awesomeness of their competition.

Then comes the news where they are reporting that a lot of the footy trains have been cancelled due to 'a lack of drivers' and the road from Geelong to Melbourne will have two lanes closed 'for roadworks' and I remember why I don't mind listening to this shit from a long way away.  I mean...they still haven't worked out how to get swipe on/swipe off ticketing going on public transport.  I mean...what the fuck?  I don't understand why they try to re-invent the fucking wheel all the time.  Swipe on/off ticketing works in loads of other countries (including Korea)...so why they feel the need to try and make a system rather than just hire a company that's already done it O/S...is totally beyond me.  Myki (My Key...get it?  What a brilliant fucking name) is a bloated, over expensive...and doomed to fail piece of bloatware.

Good afternoon Burnfans!  How are you doing?  You alright?  I am alright.  Tired.  A bit crook.  A little bit on edge still...like there's some sort of huge arse fuck coming my way, and I don't know who's gonna give it to me.  But I'm trying not to let shit freak me out.  There's no point worrying too much about shit is there?  I had some big plans for the weekend...but I guess it's probably gonna be spent in bed.  I don't mind.  I like having a rest every now and again...but not now.  I'm in the mood to get out and about and have a bit of a good time...but...I ken that I don't need to.  I need to get well...but I want to get out and about.  Needs v wants.

Now...the next bit is the bit where Burndog might be fucked.

I might be fucked.

My contract expires on May 5.  Today is the 25th of March.  In the past, when I've needed to renew the old contract...I've popped into immigration and they gave me a little bit of magic marker on the old Alien Registration Card.  This year...I don't know what the fuck I'm supposed to do.  Rumor abounds.  I asked on my Facebook wall and got the following answers...

Answer 1 -

"Matt, if it is still with the same school, then no you don't need it. If you are switching jobs, make sure that you have a contract release form to transfer your visa, then you won't need a background check."

Answer 2 -

"If it is the school wanting all of that just get them to call the local GEPIK coordinator and they will quickly tell them a renewal doesn't require that as per Julie above. I just signed last Friday. All I needed in the end was 3 copies of the signed 2011 contract but before that they complete an internal evaluation. It consists of about 5 teachers ticking some boxes on a paper each, a letter saying that the principal wants you again and that it was kinda voted by the comittee."

Answer 3 -

"the latest (as of this afternoon) for NZ anyway, was that I had to submit: contract (+copy- they kept the copy and sighted original), school reg. certificate, sponsorship contract, criminal check (from NZ- appostilled), copy of original degree (appostilled and notarised), photo, 3만 원."

So...one person saying I don't need anything.  Another person saying that I need the same shit I needed last year.  A final person who renewed yesterday...at the same immigration office that I have to go to...and they asked for the shit that I'm worried that they might ask for.

The trouble is...if I have to get a Criminal Background Check (CBC) and an apostilled and notarised copy of my degree...then I'm fucked!  I don't know how long a CBC will take from home...but I'm pretty sure that it will take more than three weeks.  I have my degree with me here...but I don't know how/if I can get it notarised and apostilled in Korea...or if I will have to send it back home and have someone take it to a lawyer and then take it to the Department Of Foreign Affairs and Trade for me.  That shouldn't take too long...but the trouble for me would be to find someone who could handle the leg work...and trying to send the money to them to do it.  In short...mostly because of the length of time that I'm sure an AFP Police check will take...I think...if I really do need all of the shit that folks are telling me I do...I think I might be fucked.  it might be home time...at least for a little while...until I get my docs together again and find a new Public School...which as I outlined yesterday won't be until at least September.

But...I'm not gonna worry about that shit...because it's the weekend.

Laters daters.

Elephanting about...

Hello there!  My computer has been acting like a total and utter eCunt today...not an Apple...so not an iCunt...although I like that better.  So...it's almost lunchtime...I've had one class today...but I've not been able to do anything while this piece of shit has been arseholeing about.  What a cunt of a way to spend two hours.  But you don't care do you?  I have nine minutes to pump out this piece of shit...then I can go and eat some lunch.  Exciting times hey?  Yeah.  You'd like that wouldn't you?  If I had exciting times.

So...I'm going to write what I can...and head back to the land of the elephants.

YouYou Teacher

I've decided to change her name.  MiMi was a silly name...so YouYou it is.  It also can mean ㅠ.ㅠ in Hangul...the old crying eyes.  Which seems apt.  Now...she has shat me off this week...no mistake...but I don't hate her or anything.  I also think that there's a slim chance that we'll get our shit together.  It's just the cruel fist of God up my sphincter that means I have to teach with her two days a week, and the reasonable and decent teachers only get two days as well.  I teach 9 classes with her...3 classes with the NYT and 6 classes with the TiCOS.  I don't know why I have to spend 9 hours a week with her. I don't.  I guess it's because I am a cunt...and Karma suggests that cunts have to co-teach for extended periods with people who treat them like semi-retarded, snot eating, ear breathing, cuntburglars.  It's the way shit works out isn't it?  So...I'm gonna have a word with her next time we 'plan' our lessons...and just suggest that she calms the fuck down...goes a little more slowly in class...and basically just lets shit happen the way it's supposed to in my fothermucking classroom.  I mean...how difficult would it be for her to understand the general fucking ideology behind that little speech?  Surely, she'll ken what the fuck I'm raging about...and just be a little more reasonable.  Surely.

I'm fucked aren't I?

Lunch.
