The first paragraph below is for Australian Football fans...if you don't like it or care...then move go to the next paragraph. The second of the paragraphs below is about train and traffic issues in Melbourne...so...ummm...again...you might not give a fuck...so go to the next paragraph.
A little bit up and down. A little bit under the weather...so gonna take it easy. Footy's back. Listening to horrible Australian radio stations that don't get a run for six months but then pop up on the old listening agenda when the footy season starts again. SEN is not a radio network for people who have a huge interest in being entertained...and it's not in any way informative enough to be utilised from day-to-day. I ken that it's footy time when I use the old internet connection to try and listen to a radio station that has ads for 'Tradies Insurance', 'Capt'n Snooze', Ferguson Plaire Bakery and Woolworths/Safeway Bottle Shops. Yeah...insurance for plumbers, beds, pies and booze...which to be enitrely fair...are all shit that I spent my poppy about when I lived back home (aside from your tradies insurance!). I love listening to 'blokey' Aussie radio...you hear shit like, "Dead set, is there a better comp goin' around?" and then the blokes debate the various awesomeness of their competition.
Then comes the news where they are reporting that a lot of the footy trains have been cancelled due to 'a lack of drivers' and the road from Geelong to Melbourne will have two lanes closed 'for roadworks' and I remember why I don't mind listening to this shit from a long way away. I mean...they still haven't worked out how to get swipe on/swipe off ticketing going on public transport. I mean...what the fuck? I don't understand why they try to re-invent the fucking wheel all the time. Swipe on/off ticketing works in loads of other countries (including Korea)...so why they feel the need to try and make a system rather than just hire a company that's already done it O/S...is totally beyond me. Myki (My Key...get it? What a brilliant fucking name) is a bloated, over expensive...and doomed to fail piece of bloatware.
Good afternoon Burnfans! How are you doing? You alright? I am alright. Tired. A bit crook. A little bit on edge still...like there's some sort of huge arse fuck coming my way, and I don't know who's gonna give it to me. But I'm trying not to let shit freak me out. There's no point worrying too much about shit is there? I had some big plans for the weekend...but I guess it's probably gonna be spent in bed. I don't mind. I like having a rest every now and again...but not now. I'm in the mood to get out and about and have a bit of a good time...but...I ken that I don't need to. I need to get well...but I want to get out and about. Needs v wants.
Now...the next bit is the bit where Burndog might be fucked.
I might be fucked.
My contract expires on May 5. Today is the 25th of March. In the past, when I've needed to renew the old contract...I've popped into immigration and they gave me a little bit of magic marker on the old Alien Registration Card. This year...I don't know what the fuck I'm supposed to do. Rumor abounds. I asked on my Facebook wall and got the following answers...
Answer 1 -
"Matt, if it is still with the same school, then no you don't need it. If you are switching jobs, make sure that you have a contract release form to transfer your visa, then you won't need a background check."
Answer 2 -
"If it is the school wanting all of that just get them to call the local GEPIK coordinator and they will quickly tell them a renewal doesn't require that as per Julie above. I just signed last Friday. All I needed in the end was 3 copies of the signed 2011 contract but before that they complete an internal evaluation. It consists of about 5 teachers ticking some boxes on a paper each, a letter saying that the principal wants you again and that it was kinda voted by the comittee."
Answer 3 -
"the latest (as of this afternoon) for NZ anyway, was that I had to submit: contract (+copy- they kept the copy and sighted original), school reg. certificate, sponsorship contract, criminal check (from NZ- appostilled), copy of original degree (appostilled and notarised), photo, 3만 원."
So...one person saying I don't need anything. Another person saying that I need the same shit I needed last year. A final person who renewed yesterday...at the same immigration office that I have to go to...and they asked for the shit that I'm worried that they might ask for.
The trouble is...if I have to get a Criminal Background Check (CBC) and an apostilled and notarised copy of my degree...then I'm fucked! I don't know how long a CBC will take from home...but I'm pretty sure that it will take more than three weeks. I have my degree with me here...but I don't know how/if I can get it notarised and apostilled in Korea...or if I will have to send it back home and have someone take it to a lawyer and then take it to the Department Of Foreign Affairs and Trade for me. That shouldn't take too long...but the trouble for me would be to find someone who could handle the leg work...and trying to send the money to them to do it. In short...mostly because of the length of time that I'm sure an AFP Police check will take...I think...if I really do need all of the shit that folks are telling me I do...I think I might be fucked. it might be home time...at least for a little while...until I get my docs together again and find a new Public School...which as I outlined yesterday won't be until at least September.
But...I'm not gonna worry about that shit...because it's the weekend.
